The wait is over after 17 years: Manushi Chhillar Miss World 2017
India’s Manushi Chhillar have won the prestigious Miss World 2017 title at a glittering ceremony in China Sanva city. Her achievement comes 17 years after Priyanka chopra won the title at the 2000 pageant. The 20 year old from Haryana, born to doctor parents, competed with more than 100 contestants from across the world to win the crown. A trained Indian classical dancer, Manushi also enjoys painting and hopes to open a chain of non-profit hospitals in rural area, according to the miss world. Manushi studied at Delhi’s Thomas school and Bhagat Phool Singh Government Medical College for women in Sonepat, Haryana. It was on of the biggest achievement for India after 17 years of wait. She has also won Miss India title 2017. She has Introduced a campaign Shakti Initiatives for woman and started a campaign for Menstrual Hygiene. On Saturday night, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted: "Congratulation Manushi Chhillar! India is proud of your accomplishment."
