Singapore to use driver-less buses from 2022




It will be the first time Singapore will launch these buses by 2022. Singapore plans to Introduce driver-less buses on its public roads by 2022. The government says they will be piloted in three new neighborhood which will have less crowded roads designed to accommodates the buses.
                                                                 Densely populated Singapore hopes driver-less technology will help the country manage its land constraints and manpower shortages. The autonomous buses are expected to complement existing manned bus services, and will initially operate during off peak hours.
                                 Singapore has less traffic congestion compared to many other cities in Southeast Asia due to road tolls and policies that promotes public transport. The new center will allow driver-less developers to test how their cars and buses would handle pedestrians, heavy rain, aggressive drivers, cyclists, scooters and other road scenarios. At least 10 companies are testing driver-less buses and car in Singapore.
