Next Orbit Ventures (NOVF) ESDM,a newly established Abu Dhabi based fund. It has launched a $2 billion fund to invest in India’s semiconductor and Electronic industries. Mumbai Based private equity firm Next Orbit Ventures set up the fund under the regulation of the Abu Dhabi Global Market financial centre after receiving funding commitments from the gulf region. California on Friday began accepting applications from businesses that want to operate in the state’s legal marijuana industry next year, a milestone for the emerging market. After months in development, an online system launched and will allow retailers, distributors and testing labs to seek state licenses, which are required to conduct business. Along with valid local permits, those who apply will need to disclose owners in the businesses, their locations, provide diagrams of the establishments and produce documents that show how their cannabis businesses would operate at the sites.                          The state and cities have been hustling to establish rules to govern the projected $7 billion industry that range from where plants can be grown to determining the location of pot businesses. While launching its digital ordering system Kionect, which allows small kiosk owners in Nairobi to order products from wholesalers and pay through various means such as cash and e-wallets, MasterCard stated on December 7 that it plans to launch a similar but inverse system for farmers in Andhra Pradesh by March next year so that they can sell their produce to wholesalers easily and with transparency. Kionect is currently being piloted with over 1,000 micro-businesses in three of Nairobi’s informal settlements — Kibera, Kawangware and Kariobangi — in partnership with Kaskazi, a for-profit wholesaler and distributor. Kionect provides a digital log of transaction data that qualifies these Kenyan micro-retailers for loans from Musoni, a regional micro-finance provider, to stock inventory. An earthquake measuring 6.2 in magnitude struck southeast Iran’s Kerman province on Tuesday, state media reported. The epicentre of the quake was reportedly near the town of Hejdak. There are no reports of casualties or damage to infrastructure so far. On November 12, in one of the deadliest earthquakes, a magnitude 7.3 quake struck the border region between Iraq and Iran. Just days after Bitcoins hit a record high of just under $11,800, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Tuesday reiterated its concerns about the cryptocurrency amid fears that a rapidly swelling bubble could burst in a spectacular fashion. The statement was issued after the cryptocurrency, which trades 24 hours a day and seven days a week, climbed as high as $11,799.99 on the Luxembourg-based Bit stamp exchange on Sunday. The RBI had previously said those trading in virtual currencies were doing so at their own risk, given that the central bank has not given a licence or authorisation for any company to deal in such cryptocurrencies. Shashi Kapoor died at 79 on Monday

Shashi Kapoor, India's veteran actor who have done over 100 films, was 79 and had been battling a kidney ailment died in Mumbai yesterday. The funeral is expected to take place at noon today in the city. Shashi was three-time winner at India's National Film Awards. He was part of what became known as Bollywood's first family, son of Prithviraj Kapoor and two brothers who were Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor. Shashi debuted with the 1961 film Dharmputra. He went on to appear in 116 Hindi films. He was honoured with the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India in 2011. In 2015, he was bestowed with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, making him the third member of the Kapoor clan to receive the honour, after dad Prithviraj Kapoor and brother Raj Kapoor. US Supreme Court allows Full Enforcement of Donald Trump’s Latest Travel Ban

The Supreme Court allowed the trump administration to fully enforce a ban on travel to the united states by residents of six mostly Muslims countries. This is not a final ruling on the travel ban. Challenges to the policy are winding through the federal courts, and the justices themselves ultimately are expected to rule on its legality. Last Saturday was the coldest for Delhi this season, with 7.4 degrees Celsius two degrees below average range. December 2 was the coldest day in seven years. Meteorological Department officials of India said: "This was the lowest of the season yet this year. It is also the coldest December 2 in seven years. The previous lowest was 8 degrees on December 2, 2012. The temperature, however, is not expected to go down much further in the next couple of days." Max Hospital Shalimar Bagh, which has come under the scanner for erroneously declaring a newborn dead, on Sunday terminated the services of the two treating doctors.
