Shashi Kapoor died at 79 on Monday
Shashi Kapoor, India's veteran actor who have done over 100 films, was 79 and had been battling a kidney ailment died in Mumbai yesterday. The funeral is expected to take place at noon today in the city. Shashi was three-time winner at India's National Film Awards. He was part of what became known as Bollywood's first family, son of Prithviraj Kapoor and two brothers who were Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor. Shashi debuted with the 1961 film Dharmputra. He went on to appear in 116 Hindi films. He was honoured with the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India in 2011. In 2015, he was bestowed with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, making him the third member of the Kapoor clan to receive the honour, after dad Prithviraj Kapoor and brother Raj Kapoor.
